Despite having a poor Champions League record at Wembley last season, Tottenham Hotspur are back with a vengeance as they prepare to play the second leg of their Real Madrid clash on Wednesday.

In the first leg, Spurs secured a safe 1–1 draw against Real Madrid, and after their triumphant 4–1 victory against Liverpool two weeks ago at Wembley, they look like a force to be reckoned with.

Nevertheless, Mauricio Pochettino’s side have not had an easy adjustment to their new home at Wembley Stadium, but it looks as though the tide could be turning in their favour.

Spurs’ chances could depend on whether England striker Harry Kane can return from his hamstring injury in time for the match which he picked up against Liverpool earlier this month.

Even Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane recognised the threat posed by the 24 year old, describing Kane as a “complete player” before the first-leg draw.

The striker has already scored 13 goals this season, and both Kane and Pochettino appear optimistic about the return of the temporary England skipper. Could this, coupled with Real’s embarrassing 2–1 defeat against Girona earlier this week, be the confidence Spurs need to propel them to a win?

Will Kane return from injury to help Spurs through to the next round of the UEFA Champions League?

Spurs need a win tomorrow night to secure their place in the Champions League knock-out rounds. However, a draw both at Wembley and between Borussia Dortmund and Apoel will leave Spurs needing just one point from their final two group games — one away in Dortmund and the second in Wembley on Wednesday 6th December.

Our Predictions

CityStasher’s very own CEO, Jacob, predicts that the pressure of Wembley will prove too much for Spurs. He speculates that it’ll be a resounding victory for the Spanish side.
